new dawn of war poll

at the minute nobody has a clue as to to what race will star in the next dawn of war so i've decided to set up a poll, which race would you like to feature in the next dawn of war, state your reasons here (even if you don't have dawn of war 2 you still vote as to what race you would like to play as in a game similar to dawn of war 2)

I chose imperial guard, it was close between tau an IG, but i think Tau would just be ANOTHER one of those aces going round in small squads with good firepower, and not much fun. IG i chose, not because i play them, but i would actually like to see larger squads of normal guys, who are an all-round soldiers(but not necesarily good) just charging round against smaller forces. I'd love to see PROPER tanks for once, and i think they'd be very more interesting than any other race on this list. Necrons i feel are too simila, they'd be good at doing one or two things, the tactics would be a little edgey, Tau, they're there for firepower, there's enough of that in Dawn of war 2 anyway, dark eldar, i dont think they'd be enough difference beteen them and eldar and have enough singularity. and sisters of battle... oh get out we know it's just female marines, BORING. I'd love to see leman russes

from what i've seen, in dawn of war two, you would probably need a whole platoon of guardsmen, just to destroy a small squad of marines,no

I chose necrons because they would be a new style of army to play as in dawn of war 2, also they could have the nightbringer as thier super unit instead of him being temporary and invincible guard it would be hard to make a swarm army like in the first series, also, with guard, it would be hard to make a swarm army because of the amount of command points you get, even orks aren't a swarm army, tau would be boring to play as because they would just stand back and shoot and would probably be overpowered in multiplayer games because they would require no skill, sisters of battler i hate,and dark eldar would be too similar to eldar.

Going by the original series, the Imperial Guard will be next. The troops will be smaller, storm trooper like squads I think, otherwise the guard will just swarm enemy bases.

yes but this poll is about which army you would like to be next, not wich army you think will be next

I'd love to see Tau featured. It could make sense, because a small sqaud of firewarriors. Or, I'm not sure if this would be OP, but 2/3 battlesuits?

Imperial guard should be squads of 5, but they cost fewer command points, and setinels would just be cool. Tbh, my opinion on necrons has changed even ore, JUST NO. i am actually bored of just warriors spawning, taking their time to go everywhere and having to play the same every time you play, this is what a necon in DOW2 would be like. Tau, just far too boring eventually, yes it would be tactical and you'd win, but you'd mass firewarriors and win... slightly BORING. dark eldar and sisters of battle need no more saying.

You are so biased. Are you saying that IG would be much different from Tau? Massed firepower anyone?

yes but imperial guard aren't as good at range than Tau, you assume i'm doing this because i play IG, but i have actually thought this and balacned this. Imperial guard are known for their tanks and massed infantry, in DOW2 tanks are an expensive option and you cant spam leman russ after leman russ. storm trooper, ogyns and guardsme, ratlings, maybe veterns and catachans would be excellent fun, more than... fire warriors. And if you get into combawith imperial guard, well guadsmen are just as good in combat as they are at range, compltely blanaced, while fire warriors, you're STUCK with the option of shooting.

I think, if the Guardsmen were to feature, then they'd be a small elite force, maybe a Storm Trooper Company. Small squads, medium/good firepower, mobility, and they'd be slightly better in some cases than the Space Marines (ie. movement speed) but in some cases, worse (ie. possibility of close-quarters action)

But you're thinking of lots of options for IG, but none for Tau. For Tau you can have Hammerheads, with the two different weapons, battle-suits, stealth-suits etc.

Oay, so you can get a hammerhead... with two weapons... leman russ, 7 variants, which sounds better? Leman russ.

However, you will get a max of 2 variants in the game, not 7. Tau tanks outclass the Russ considerably. The Tau, I don't think they will come in just yet. Unless the next game is a double. Then it should be Imperial Guard and the Tau.

My first choice would have been Dark Eldar as most of you would have guessed. But I went with Imperial Guard because I'm guessing that THQ would completely balls it up.
Besides, Leman Russes and specialists. Awsome.
