The Dark Angel's side of the story behind the Dark Angel and the Space Wolves' ferocious rivalry - for those who don't have either codex.
Part one details the main assault by the Dark Angels

Kadiel stepped forward carefully through the gloom of the Citadel's vast sewer network, careful not to evoke much noise or rippling in the grimy water that filled the tunnels. This dirty job was more suited to the scouts of 10 company, rather than any of the brother marines of the rest of the legion. They'd all have their job to do, and this one was as important as any. Tracking his bolter back and forth through the mist, Kadiel slowly picked out the form of a large steel gate marking the edge of the inner works of the under-network. Having planned out the assault with the other division commanders tirelessly the evening before, he had committed the schematics of the sewer network to memory, and so was anticipating what was to come next, running through the attack in his mind subconsciously as the time passed.
Moving into a low crouch, the next three members of his squad followed suit, the fifth and sixth moving up to the gate with the charges, ready to blow their way through, with the final six members of the squad halting at the rear, covering the back passage.
The krak charges set, the squad waited in the darkness, waiting for the signal to detonate them, after Kadiel had informed Jonson that they were in position.
Only a few minutes passed, as was expected, and the signal came through to detonate the charges, gunfire rippling out in the fortress above.
Stepping back, the charges went off, blasting metal and shrapnel in all directions, while the scouts covered their faces.
Kadiel led the squad further forwards, finding what he was looking for, the thin corridor, leading into the inner chambers of the citadel. Blasting through the flimsy lock on the manhole above, Kadiel wrenched it open and with the rest of the squad stormed through the next few rooms, finding them just as empty as expected. Quietly stalking through the lower chambers, squad Kadiel steadily moved up through the complex, encountering little resistance, closing in on the identified location.
The squad lined off outside the audience chambers, where, by the sound of it, there was some sort of emergency arming process going on. Blasting a hole through the door-lock, and kicking it open, Kadiel hunched back against the wall while number two and three tossed in frag grenades to lessen the resistance. Choosing that moment to storm in, Kadiel tore himself into the chambers, the others following suit, guns tracking targets almost instantly and letting off bolt after bolt. Las-bolts cracked off past the scouts, the cultists desperately trying to hold back the dozen scouts taking the room by storm.
Kadiel pointed his combat shotgun towards one such cultist, and gripped the trigger as a shell ripped from the barrel and tore into the pathetic man's neck. Flying backwards in a spray of blood, the cultist hit the floor with his neck having been blasted half off. Kadiel took no time to revel in his kill and was already picking new targets, his manstopper shells tearing into flesh with every shot taken, making a mess of every target they hit.
Soon the room was painted and flecked red with blood sprayed from the bodies now littering the chamber floor.
Halting the squad, Kadiel raised Jonson on the comm-link, "Target secured; dropping beacon now".
Almost as soon as he had finished speaking, number 7, a fairly experienced scout named Thadien, unhooked a device from his belt, a locator beacon, activated it, and tossed it to the floor, while the squad moved to the front of the room. Within seconds, The shapes of the black-armoured Deathwing Terminators shimmered into view. Captain Gadian of 1st Company nodded towards Kadiel, indicating them to rendezvous with 2nd and 3rd squads scouts and exfiltrate via the side entrance, their objective having been completed. The Deathwing would move through the fortress from the top, clearing and securing, cutting off the chaos cultists from the rear.
Acknowledging his orders, Squad Kadiel moved towards the ramparts that had been secured, preparing to head back towards the op base. Glancing over the ramparts, Kadiel couldn't help but notice the Space Wolves had begun to attack in response to the assault already started by the Dark Angels. One face in particular met Kadiel's eye, a Blood Claw Sergeant called Kravvik from the Space Wolves' 5th company, who had developed a deep disliking for the Dark Angel scouts subtle techniques, having spotted Kadiel some moments before, and throwing an envenomed look of pure spite at him. Kadiel just grinned widely back at him, not stopping to insult the hothead any further.

Sergeant Danael relayed the order to blast the gates to Kadiel and the other scout sergeants, as the information came through that the scouts were in position. Turning back to the door on his left, Danael gave an almighty kick, sending thick shards of wood flying off in reaction to the blow. Reactivating his chainsword, Danael marched into the room, picking cultists off with his bolt pistol, each shot caving into the head or chest of some unfortunate before blowing its insides out. Feeling the sharp click as the pistol ran out of ammunition, he re-holstered it and charged into close combat with a battle-roar on his lips. He tore out the stomach of one man with a wide sweep, before bringing the weapon above his head for a second blow at another running at him with a demented scream from his lungs. With next to no effort, Danael cleaved the diminutive human's skull in twain, while taking the weapon through the man's heart and out under his arm. Blood pouring from the wound, the little man slumped to the ground with a wet splatter. Continuing this trend of well-executed violence, assault squad Danael carved their way through the host, dismembering limbs and tearing through hopeless bodies with every blow.
Before very long, the combat was over, just before the comm-link relayed the calm voice of sergeant Kadiel,
"Sir, we have reached the audience chambers, awaiting order to engage."
The voice of Jonson, the Lion, replaced it, "Very good sergeant, clear and secure, then drop the beacons."
"Yes, sir, over and out."
Danael grinned; the plan was coming together like clockwork, the terminators would be arriving quicker than anticipated. The scout squads had done well. Of course, he could never expect any less of them, they were Astartes, after all.
The next phase of the plan was to continue moving up through the lower levels and rendezvous with Jonson and the other squad sergeants at the central chamber. He had to give it to Jonson, his capacity for meticulous planning was second to none. No detail had gone amiss, Jonson was in his element on the planning table, and he had really gone to town with this one; everything was going brilliantly. Just as well, if the Space Wolves had been allowed to initiate the attack instead, the job would have gone very differently. No less efficiently, of course, but as was Space Wolf nature, it would have lacked elegance, precision and grace. They were famed more for primal fury and skill at arms rather than planning ahead with care. They'd get the job done, but messily. Danael grinned. He was glad to be one of the sons of the Lion.
Striding forth onto the next chambers, the squad was met by a wave of lasfire from slightly more skilled hands than before. Covering behind a pillar to reload his bolt pistol, Danael ordered the squad to pop smoke at the targets. As the smoke filled the room, Danael activated the thermal sensors in his helmet before he began the slaughter. He noticed that in their confusion and blindness, the cultists were turning upon each other in a bid to kill the marines attacking them. With the inferior vision they had, it was impossible for them to tell friend from foe. Both would kill them quite happily, but only one of them would die easily when attacked. Laughing manically as he fell upon the swarm of undisciplined heretics, Danael loosed off bolts at the cultists, each shot making a kill, while the buzzing chainsword in his other hand became slick with foul cultist blood. Danael didn't even try to avoid the weak blows that hit him constantly from the men, as all they would do to him was scratch the ceramite slightly. Nothing short of heavy weapons would be able to take a marine with any ease.
The bolt pistol clicking empty again, he holstered it, before hammering his hand into the nearest cultist, crushing his skull in his iron grip, before tossing him aside like a used lho-stick. The gunfire and slaughter stopped as the cultists withdrew, the marines still hampering them as they left. Danael glanced around to see two of the squad having been felled, by a heavy bolter in the corner of the room, long having run out of ammunition by now.
Reloading and cocking his pistol, Danael moved up into the next room, finding it already awash with blood, as the other Dark Angel squads had moved into it, ripping open the last of the cultists on the lower levels. Joining in for the last few minutes, Danael re-initiated his cycle of killing, increasing his death-tally still further as he slaughtered his way through the crowd. After finally, the killing ceased, the large figure in the centre of the room, the Primarch himself, spoke up, "Brothers, Captain Gadian has reported he has deep stuck into the designated position without hindrance, while the audience chambers has been secured by first squad scouts under sergeant Kadiel, as has the Defence batteries and communications arrays by second and third squads, respectively. The plan is going as expected, and is on schedule. I need not remind you of the next phase. Let us continue, for the Emperor!".
Danael certainly didn't need reminding. The 3rd and 4th companies, collectively under Captain Zadiel, would move up into the central floor to secure the main operation centre and the heart of the citadel, and catch the heretics in a pincer as the 1st moved down from having teleported into the high levels, while 5th company, including Danael, under the Primarch, would move over to the more heavily defended armoury and take out the Tyrant Durath. Danael knew full well that the Space Wolf Primarch, Leman Russ, who had attacked the world along with his legion alongside the Dark Angels, had desired Durath's head for himself after a fit of rage the Tyrant had brought on. Jonson hadn't allowed Russ to attack, as he had already laid out plans to take the Tyrant's life himself. He wanted the honour of the victory to go to the Dark Angels, not the Space Wolves, as such this was what was deserved. Russ wasn't going to take this well.
Following the Primarch towards the armoury as the battlegroup moved to complete the final phase of the assault, Danael indicated for his squad to follow.
Moving out of the door to the armoury, Danael looked up towards the top of the citadel, taking note of the three scout squads moving out to exfil. He picked out sergeant Kadiel, who appeared to be looking out at the terrain outside the fortress. Following his gaze, Danael noticed the Space Wolves outside the walls in swirling combats with hundreds of cultists, with Russ at the head, screaming obscenities as he was made aware of the Dark Angels already mostly in control of the citadel. Grinning, Danael noted that he was going to enjoy the final phase.

Okay, that was part one of The Lion and the Wolf, the second part will be posted later.
Thanks for reading

Well, aside from a few grammar mistakes in the large part of the story, it's a pretty good account.
