Isstvan 5 Massacre

Hi guys, Jake and I were writing some rules regarding the Isstvan 5 massacre. You know the one, were Ferrus noobus got mauled by Noobgrim? Yeah, that one.

Ok, I will post the rules as we make them, but give me some feedback or suggestions here.

Yeah, basically we're thinking of trying doing it this Apoc. game, but next year might turn into a 'Great Crusade' campaign that is nowhere near as complicated as that attempted Campaign this year (:S) and the Apoc. game becames Istvaan V.

I'm going to move this to rules discussion.

Right, first rule discussion:

This game will be Planetstrike on the main board, and for those of you who've played it before, this will be very simple.

Between the deployment stage and the infiltrators and scout moves stage, there's a series of Orbital Strikes. To represent the attacker's hatred for the traitors, they have been granted access to the most deadly weapons in the Imperium's arsenal - Virus Bombs. Roll a D3 - this is the number of (I can't remember the name - someone help me out) Bombs that are Virus Bombs. These must be used before the other bombs and use the following profile:

Range: N/A
Strength: 10
AP: 1
Type: Melta, Ordnance
Notes: As they are being fired from high orbit, these bombs scatter 3D6" - this can never be modified, and if a HIT roll is rolled on the scatter dice, then the lowest of the three dice is ignored and the Template scatters in the direction of the arrow on the HIT marker.

Right, that's open for discussion. I'm debating this rule with myself:

Causes Instant Death which ignores Eternal Warrior.

OR:

Causes Instant Death; if, however, a model that has been hit has Eternal Warrior, then they are reduced to one wound.

one thing about the virus bombs, As it is a biological weapon I think it should be poisoned (2+) rather than str10, i'm saying that a virus won't destroy a tank or a bastion

Actually, the general term is Virus Bomb, it was just the Life-Eater employed at Istvaan III.

It's got some of that wrong actually - the Virus' destroy the atmosphere, and it's only with the use of incendiary bombs that the gases released are ignited.

As for the Eternal Warrior part?

that bit's fine, being immune to instant death is fairly useless when your lungs and brain are disintegrating
I still reckon it should be poisonous rather than str 10 to represent its effectiveness against infantry rather than vehicles

But there are vents and the like on vehicles, which means gas would easily get inside them.

still, its not exactly fair on the defending player watching most of his best tanks becoming blackish mud

Make it fair?! There's going to be 7 Traitor Legions to three! And there will only be three Virus Bombs, besides their will be rules for the fort their in, so we're keeping it at ten.

Is this the apocalypse game we're playing? if so i am coverting a valkyrie into a thunderbolt fighter soon, and may be fun for this, can I use apoc vehicles?

Well, I'm thinking Planetstrike but with 5000/6000 points, and you may use two Apocalypse Formations, to prevent people from spamming Apoc. units. Sound fair?

i've got a couple of converted chaos markers you could use. Apart from that i'm screwed for this. One thing the dark angels didn't get a part in

*growl* I've said, you don't have too have the actual Legions, but you will have bonuses for having the actual Legions painted and modelled.

will i be traitor or loyal? i want to know what i am allowed to use

I've sent an email to everyone I think will be interested.

First, we need to get the Virus Bombs rules out of the way, then I'll move on to describing how the evening will go. I'll also need 10 mins. at the beginning of the club this week to work out how the room will be setup.

Awesomes Jake, we still need a couple of rules for the Loyalists, otherwise it will be too unfair.

perhaps loyalists get a larger base, or a shield generator around there base? to have slight protection from long-range firepower. say a 5+ cover save anywhere in a certian are,a and the actual generator cna be an objective to take for the chaos.

Also, my black templars can easily cover iron hands, they have very similar colour scheme, also can i request(you dont have to agree) that I am loyalist, because i have many imperial-only special models such as my super-heavy and thunderbolts and valkyries, that traitor legions dont have.

I will happily be traitor, but can I use everytihng a loyalist can use, but say that the crew/squads turned chaos? because otherwise i have nothing chaos-special
