Ultramarines movie
Ok, we all agree that the ultramarines is a fairly sh*t subject for the film, nevertheless the first trailer for it will be available to watch on the movie site on the 29th May
Here:s the link for anyone wanting to see the trailer:

Lol, it looks OK. It should be called 'Goff' though.

Re: Ultramarines movie
personally, i reckon it should focus on something more interesting than the ultramarines, like the 3rd Armageddon war or something - something not focusing on those blue pansies
Re: Ultramarines movie
As much as I hate the Ultrasmufs, they are the most well known of anything in 40k.
Also, they have had there fair share of fights.
(Why not have the Eldar gods have a brawl with Gork and Mork?)

Re: Ultramarines movie
So what if they're the most well known??? They are the most tedious subject possible - they are bog standard marines - unimaginative. Why didn't they do something different?
Re: Ultramarines movie
True, but to GW they symbolise everything that is a Space Marine.
To everyone normal however, they symbolise what not to do.

Re: Ultramarines movie
Games-wise, they're bog-standard, but fluff-wise they are one of the most Heroic chapters (after the Space Wolves, obviously) and it's a good archetypical army to introduce the world to 40k with.
Re: Ultramarines movie
Also, they have to focus it on one particular light in the darkness of the Imperium. If it was one particular war then it wouldn't be that good.
Why not include the assualt on Baal though?
I really hope they show the hivefleet attack Macragge .

Re: Ultramarines movie
they chose to make this movie IMO to bring in new players and encourage new people to take on the hobby, this was not aimed at currne,t veteran players, everyone symbolises warhammer 40k to the ultramrines, it's an appealing army to newbies, dont watch this expecting it to be amazing for current players. Also, the hivefleet thing was completely bullcrap. Sorry, but the ultramarines have 1000 guys and the win against the hivefleet was complete luck, that the tyranid swarmlord sat on his butt while calgar somehow killed an entire invasion force while understrenght, massively outnumbered. The reaosn why i hate ultramarines and space marines in general, is because they never lose and boast about their wins. Which is why i pay great respect for Black Templars, because they were almsot destroyed by a necron tomb world ambush and altohugh ultimately they LOST, they made a great story out of their loss

Re: Ultramarines movie
Well, we have some bad defeats as well, but I must admit that we are the worst Chapter for boasting, but it's a whole machocism, bravado thing we got going.
Re: Ultramarines movie
I have the reason.. Because they're easy to animate...

Re: Ultramarines movie
i wish i was Calgar... i would gather the ultramarines for a parade to honour the chapter.. then in my speech:
"ULTRAMRINES, you fought valiantly over the millenias! LOL JK, you sucked ass" *drops nuke*
then i would respect them

Re: Ultramarines movie
Are we forgetting the time when the Blood Angels teamed up with NECRONS against a hive fleet?
That is something to boast about.

Re: Ultramarines movie
they all team up, imeprial guard and tau had a pernament alliance after a hive fleet attacked them, during THEIR war. Also some space marine chapters forged a pernament alliance with craftworld Iyanden, against a hive fleet. That one was probably the biggest fight the hive fleet had, over 500 ships were used and more than that destroyed on the tyranid side. all 5 billion Iyanden citizens took up arms to fight - LOL they only just won

Re: Ultramarines movie
Permanant? I think you mean temporary. The Imperium never, and I mean never make an alliance with Xenos for too long.

Re: Ultramarines movie
in the tyranid codex, this specific Imperial guard regiment made a truce with a Tau expansion force, they do trading etc. together and when attacked they help each other. Says exactly this in the tyranid codex

Re: Ultramarines movie
i think that the inquisition would let them off as if they hadn't had the alliance and still do(as tyranid hive fleets constantly attack that area) then that specific fleet would already be way past the eastern front, edging very near to Imperium-only territory

Re: Ultramarines movie
blood angels didn't team up with necrons, the necrons just used logic and figured that the tyranids were a bigger threat and so focosed on them so the blood angels did likewise, no offence to blood angels though

Re: Ultramarines movie
But it then says afterwards that the Silent King was to weary and did not want to fight someone who had just been their ally.

Re: Ultramarines movie
i dunno, maybe they did join forces but it seems kinda wierd that necrons would do that since they slept so that life would start anew and the ctan could feast on souls, also necrons don't have emotions
